Veterans Florida has awarded $36,445.00 through the FL VETS Business Training Grant Program to Destin Jet, a private aviation support facility based in Destin, FL. The company will use the funding to hire and train 10 new veteran employees.
Since 2009, Destin Jet has provided service and support to general aviation pilots, crew and passengers traveling to and from the Destin Executive Airport.
After only nine months of operation, Destin Jet was voted as one of the top 50 FBOs in the nation and again in 2011 (FltPlan.com Pilot’s Choice Awards). In fewer than three years in operation, Destin Jet has captured over 70% of the field’s turbine traffic including three of the four major fractionals. Destin Jet’s facility boasts a 6,000 square foot terminal and 40,300 square feet of hangar space.
The company plans to utilize the grant funds to hire seven linemen and three customer service representatives.
Destin Jet is hiring the following positions:
Position: General Aviation Line Service Technician
Destin Jet, located at the Destin Executive Airport, is looking for a reliable, conscientious, and hardworking General Aviation Line Service Technician. Successful candidates are trained in multiple tasks such as refueling, towing, and providing customer assistance. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to perform physical labor outdoors. Applicants must be available for shift, weekend, and holiday work hours. Military experience preferred.
Destin Jet offers a highly competitive wage and benefits package including health insurance, vacation, and paid holidays. To apply, email a resume with cover letter to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Many of our current employees are veterans. The skill sets that they bring from their military service match well with the skill set that we require of our lineman or ground support maintenance positions,” says General Manager Bill Blackford. “We’ve found that it is easier for us to hire and train a veteran with prior knowledge than hiring someone without aviation experience.”
Position: Customer Service Representative
Destin Jet, located at the Destin Executive Airport, is looking for an experienced full-time Customer Service Representative. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and excellent communication skills. They must also be able to work independently and multitask while continuing to provide excellent customer service to flight crews and their passengers. Military experience preferred.
Given the nature of our business, applicants must be flexible with hours and be available to work nights, weekends, and some holidays. Corporate aviation experience is a plus.
We offer a highly competitive wage and benefits package including: health insurance, vacation, and paid holidays. To apply, send a resume with cover letter to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Destin Jet is a fast-growing company and this grant award will allow it to expand further by tapping into the great veteran talent pool in Northwest Florida,” says Bobby Carbonell, Veterans Florida’s Executive Director. “Many of the area’s veterans already have experience on or around a flight line, so these jobs are a natural fit for them.”
