Veterans Florida Scholarship Helps Former Marine Pianist Focus on Keys to Success

Wilson Bautista CEO, The Bautista Group dba Jün Cyber

Originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, Wilson Bautista wanted to become a fighter pilot. After a semester in college, he realized that the normal route that most people take in life was not for him. He was undisciplined and needed more than sitting in a classroom. He enlisted in the Marine Corps as a pianist and was able to travel around the world.

During his enlistment, he was able to finish his college degree and soon after, he went on to Officer Candidate School for the Marines and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Trained as a communications officer, he supported combat operations in Afghanistan with Regimental Combat Team 6. Soon after, he left active service in pursuit of other opportunities but continued his service in the North Carolina National Guard.

He is now a retired military officer who is currently the founder and CEO of the consulting firm Jün Cyber and the Executive Director of the Cyber Ohana Project, a fiscally sponsored project under the Social Good Fund, a California nonprofit corporation and registered 501(c)(3) organization. He provides expertise in the domains of InfoSec leadership, policy, architecture, compliance, and risk to his clients. He is also the author of “Practical Cyber Intelligence” and “Finding Your Career in Cybersecurity”. He holds a Masters Degree in Information Systems from Boston University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of South Florida.

Wilson is married with three children and currently resides in St Petersburg, Florida. In his off time he enjoys reading different business and self-improvement books or binge watching anime or the latest Netflix drama. In the future, he hopes to continue adventuring around the world with his wife and explore Asia and Africa. Also, he hopes to hike the Appalachian trail in full, if his wife allows him to.
